So a few days ago I got my purple folder in the mail!  I got my email on the 4th so I was already expecting it, but I am so excited.  I got character performer. yay.  I have not accepted my role yet, but I am planning on doing so in a couple of days because I have to by the 19th.  therefore, i do not yet know when i will be arriving down there, but as soon as I do you know the paperchains and countdowns will be all over my house ;o) wherever "my house" will be at the time because I am moving within the next three weeks... but I don't know where to yet. yikes!  stressful.  but I am not going to worry about any of this until Monday, when I am done with my two biggest finals and my research paper.

So I don't know how many of you have heard since they announced it yesterday, but Disney has announced the Christmas Carol Train Tour to promote the new film coming out in November. The train will make a stop in Miami, unfortunately not Orlando, but I'd still love to make a little trip out. It'll be there from October 16-18 so even those who aren't in the FA can go! Maybe the program will arrange something for us to go out but either way I'm excited. For more info check www.christmascaroltraintour.com.

I am so excited! Check-in is in 97 days!! Time is starting to fly by. Even though I am so jealous of all the FA people, I think Fall will get here soon enough. Plus, I leave for FL in 92 days! Me and my dad are leaving on Thurs, Aug 6, and will arrive in Orlando on Fri, Aug 7 (the reason of that is that I put in availability to work a few character attendant shifts on Aug 7-9. So hopefully I get the shifts). And I also can't wait for the meet-up dinner on the 9th. I think it's going to be a lot of fun!

I've started thinking about what I will be bringing down with me. The initial program is 5 months long, but I am planning on extending it (so I would then be in FL from Aug 2009 to Aug 2010). I've also been thinking about things to do while on the CP. They include doing both sets of parties at the MK (mnsshp and mvmcp). I also want to do the CP at Epcot (I've never done it before, but I heard it is amazing!). Then there are the 4 character meals I need to do to have done them all, a few tours at the parks, F&W at Epcot, the 5 marathons (I'm already signed up for the Half in Jan. But I also really want to do the Princess Half in March, and the EE challenge in Sept. And I am considering the ToT 13K and the Race for the Taste 10K, both in Oct), going resort-hopping, and other things. After that, the plan is to hopefully go FT. I'm not sure where yet, or if it will even be possible (my dream role is character performer, and then character attendant). I just hope the economy will be better when the time comes.

Finally, I have been working on things I want to do over the summer (since it will be my first summer at home since 2004). Of course, there are my 2 summer classes (they go until July 9). I most likely will be working Fridays again, and perhaps work other days once the summer classes end. I officially signed up to do VBS on Sun. I want to work in the preschool, with my mom. And I will be going to a few baseball games this summer at Citi. Now, for the things I hope to do:
*See the 3 Disney shows on Broadway (especially Lion King, but also Mary Poppins and Little Mermaid). I wouldn't say no to getting Wicked and Shrek in there again.
*Save up for a new camera. I love my current one (especially since it has a video feature on it). But I really want a dSLR camera, so I can get better night shots. I am looking at Nikon, Canon, and Sony cameras, but I have no idea which ones are good (I do like the Nikon D60, and a couple of the Canons).
*Make the homemade autograph cards again. I made them in 2007, and they were a huge hit! I really want to make them again. And I hope to get a printer in FL, so I can keep printing them out.

19 March 2009 @ 05:06 pm
Hey I thought I would post this to help anyone who has not interviewed yet. Before my interview I went to various Disney forums and found as much info about the interview process as possible. I ended up compiling a list of possible questions. To prep for the interview I came up with answers for the questions. I did not get asked all of these questions but they definitely put me in the right frame of mind. Hopefully these will help someone. If anyone has any other questions they were asked feel free to add to the list.

First we did a recap of the questions from the application.

Why do I want to do the CP at this point in my life?

Why should you be in the CP program?

Why do I want to work for Disney?

How would I interact with guests - good guest service?

What would I look for in a CP applicant?

Describe a situation where I've had to work with a difficult person, boss or professor.

How open am I to people from diverse backgrounds?

How do you feel about moving away to Florida, and leaving your friends and family?

What Disney character is most like you?

3 words you/your manager/your coworkers would use to describe you?

Why do you want to work at WDW Resort?

Then we talked about the roles I checked off and my reasoning for selecting each of the roles.

Attractions-
What would you do if a 4 year old girl wanted to ride space mountain but she was too short?

In terms of a spiel ride (I said I was interested in GMR)- talk about a situation in which I have talked in front of a large group of people.

Character Performer-

How would I act as a character performer?

Talk about my experience with entertainment/theatre.

What would I do if a child was scared of me?

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Hostess-

Do I have salon experience?

Transportation-
How do you feel about driving a monorail 70 feet off the ground?

How would you feel about driving a boat or monorail, while answering guest questions?

How do you feel about driving at night?

How comfortable are you memorizing long spiels and delivering them over a microphone?

Merchandise-
If a package of chips comes at $1.50 each, and a guest wants 3, and gives you $10, how much change do you give back?
